What has an IT services company got to do with kids? Well, quite a lot if the kids belong to the employee family! An extended family culture is not new for organizations, yet HCL Comnet has gone one step beyond by providing Comnet-Kids a fun space of their own!

Launched in the year 2000, 'Little Comnetian's Club' is a one-of-its kind group for the Gen-next of HCL Comnet. This club is where the future Comnetians get a first hand feel of the company and the work place of their parents. What more, the kids have their own exclusive space and idea bank in virtual space - www.comnetkids.com. The portal being managed by kids has live content - articles, drawings comments and pictures. They can also make pen pals with other Comnet-kids spread across the globe.

And yes, all this fun is not just restricted to the virtual world. All the festivals like Holi, Diwali, Christmas become an excuse when the entire Club gets together in the company premises and celebrates together in an undulating show of bonhomie showcasing the true spirit of the occasion. Apart from festivals like these special screenings in the in-house movie auditorium, talent contests are also held under the club forum.

Yet another regular at the Comnet stable. Be it a birthday bash or our annual comnet day we leave no opportunities to shake a leg.

It was the summer of 99' when the Kargil war was being fought on the LoC and the government of India was anxious to put up a foolproof communication network between the various military bases and the front. Comnet won this coveted contract. The implementation of this assignment was truly an uphill task. "The temperature in Kargil at that time was -20° and the whether was really horrible. It was so cold that you could get frostbite just by touching a metal. But all this did not deter our engineers one bit and they completed the job in record 35 days", recalls Sanjay Gupta of the Customer Care services. "A public sector undertaking would have taken at least a year and a half to complete the same task", adds Project Manager Ashutosh Kaushik. The Kargil assignment yet again established Comnet's commitment to technology and service delivery, apart from the sense of urgency for a national cause. "Everybody was impressed with our Kargil feat. The army officers sing our praises till today", says Pradeep Bindal, Head-Sales, North India.
